LSPs and the Private Sector

LSPs have significant public sector and, in most cases, voluntary and community sector representation. But while most have a small number of private sector representatives, virtually all have difficulty in engaging the interest of the private sector members even in terms of attendance at meetings. This has also been the case nationally. Government research into area-based initiatives nationally has also found private sector involvement difficult, due to time constraints and a reluctance to be involved in perceived talking shops.  Despite this, the North Lincolnshre Strategic Partnership has adequate private sector membership on the LSP Board, including representatives from Business Link Humber, Mason, Baggott & Garton, North Lincolnshire Homes and Kimberly- Clark.
